Labour Market Gatekeepers: Hiring Managers & Skilled Immigrants in Alberta, Canada, a Mixed-Method Study

My name is Chene Redwood, and I am a Sociology Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Calgary. I am conducting research to understand the role that hiring managers are playing in the labour market integration of skilled immigrants to Canada.

As such, I am interviewing hiring managers (HR professionals involved in recruitment and selection of employees) to understand the general practice, policies, and considerations within organizations with respect to recruitment and selection of skilled immigrants in Alberta. The interview will take 45 minutes -1 hour and will be conducted on Zoom.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and no CPHR membership benefits are tied to participation. Although the recruitment information is coming to you through the CPHR list serve, no one at CPHR will know if you choose to participate, and no one at CPHR will ever have access to the raw data. All your responses will be kept confidential. You will not have to answer any questions you do not want to answer.  If at any time you do not want to continue with the interview, you may decline or discontinue. None of the responses will be connected to identifying information. Any names of people or organizations you mention will be deleted or replaced with pseudonyms in the interview transcript.
